Updates
Seed Generation
- "Course Mode" replaces Total Par. Modes:
- Standard (Par 72): Four par 3s, ten par 4s, four par 5s. The current default.
- Natural Par (68-76): The par is rolled for each seed and is usually near 72.
- Executive Course: Par 3s plus two to six par 4s, with no par 5s. Par is 56-60.
- Par 3 Course: Eighteen par 3s. Total par of 54.
- Vanilla Course: One course from either version of the game, holes in 1-18 order.
- Hole mirroring and hazard shuffling are new settings: "Each hole mirrored" and "Each hole hazards shuffled". The choices are Off (the default), Unlikely (25%), Coin flip (50%), Likely (75%) and Always.
- The expert limit has a new "Two per Nine" option.
Seed Page
- Course overview puts small "m" (for mirrored) and "hs" (for hazards shuffled) tags beside a hole's id.
- Several changes to settings table to reflect new generation settings.
- Adds a per-seed "Yardage Book" for every seed. This is essentially the site's Rangefinder,
but unique for the 18 holes comprising the specific seed. It renders the exact data
written into the rom, including any potential edits or transformations the randomization
process applies. It also displays the pin position for the seed, as well as the exact
wind direction and strength for the tee shot.
- The Wind Fix. In the vanilla game, eight of the 16 directions were wrong due
to reading opcodes as data. Most visibly, straight crosswinds also pushed the ball
either up (West crosswind) or down (East crosswind). New randomizer seeds include
a fix, so wind that is "due west" acts the same as wind that is "due north", just shifted
90 degrees.
- Adds ability to limit expert holes. Expert holes are defined as Mario Open holes that
play tougher against par than any NES Open hole. The default is one expert hole per nine.
- Wind profiles. Two new settings:
- Speed profile: this setting shapes the average speed of the wind over the course of the round.
- Directon profile: this setting shapes the average direction of the wind over the course of the round.
- Players can set BGM, Swing Speed, Putt Speed, and Swing Spin defaults at seed download time.
- Players' choices for these settings are remembered when downloading a new seed.
- The settings in the download panel are now collapsed by default.
- Players' /me pages show their remembered choices and allow edits.
- Newly generated seeds with club restrictions remove CHOOSE CLUBS from the in-game clubhouse menu.
- Newly generated seeds record fairways hit and total water/out-of-bounds penalty strokes.
- Improvements to seed generation performance.
- Completed Rounds hidden by default on seed details page to avoid spoilers.
- Green Detail and Scorecard shortcuts in the ROM. From the shot-setup screen, B then Select opens the Green Detail view. B then Start opens the Scorecard.
- Seed page redesign including scoring marks.
- Timestamps in a friendlier format.
- 'Updates' page added.
- Version number in the site footer.
- Improved performance on randomizer base patch, removing lag frames from the
shot-setup screen to ready to swing screen transition, and restoring vanilla
performance.
Hotfix: Resolved issue with holes of a certain length soft-locking game.
Mario Open Golf re-enabled as a source of holes.
Hotfix: Removed Mario Open Golf from the hole sources options
